Latest Fishing Reports

Lake Sakakawea - Monday, June 17, 2013
Lake Sakakawea is still producing good walleye fishing right now with limits coming  easy most days.  We had boats on the Big Lake Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday with good success all five days.  Saturday and Sunday were the toughest days but mostly because of the gusty winds we had which dictated where we could go, but we still managed limits on both days.  Pretty much any presentation is working right now but most of our fish are coming in 8-12 feet of water with lindy rigs tipped with either night crawlers or minnows.   We have been fishing the East end mostly but have been working our way west and doing pretty good all over.  Once again I expect the fishing to be good for quite some time and possibly all the way through the open water season.

The lake is really starting to heat up as far as other species as well.  We have been catching a lot of really nice smallmouth bass as well as some nice pike up to about 12 lbs.  A person really never knows what they are going to hook next!

Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Wednesday, June 12, 2013
Took my 4 year old daughter out for a little walleye fishing on the Missouri River near Bismarck on Tuesday evening and what a great evening it turned out to be.  Not only were the fish biting but I found out she is one heck of a good angler!  Usually I would try to jig and pull cranks but with the little one in the boat jigging was out of the question so cranking was next on the list.  The fish did not respond well to crankbaits (probably due to the dirty water) so we switched to lindy rigs tipped with minnows and that was the ticket.  Once we switched I was a busy man with probably 20 or so walleyes boated in an hour!  The Missouri River is finally starting to clean up a little and just as I figured there are lots of fish of all sizes around the Bismarck area.  I expect this to last for a few more weeks so get out enjoy it while it is here.

Lake Oahe (North Dakota) - Monday, June 10, 2013
The walleye action is pretty steady at the Stateline area with lots of fish being caught and limits getting taken in the 15 to 18 inch range.  Crankbaits as well as livebait rigs are working, whichever a person prefers.  Lake Oahe in North Dakota should remain good for the weeks to come.   Not much to report north of the Langliers area due to the water still being dirty with all the rains we have had in the last few weeks.  If it cleans up in the next week we shoud have some very good river fishing for a few more weeks also.
