Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Wednesday, May 26, 2010
Had one boat out Saturday on the river north of Bismarck. Water levels were on the rise and scattered the fish a bit. They did manage getting a two-man limit, but was hard to come by. Most fish were caught on jigs and live bait or jigs and plastics. There’s still going to be some good fishing to be had on the river near the Bismarck area.
Lake Oahe (North Dakota) - Monday, May 17, 2010
Saturday and Sunday we had boats fishing from Beaver Bay and south to the State Line area. Nicer fish were found deeper around the Langliers and State Line area pulling crank baits in 20 – 28 foot of water and it seemed like white baits were doing the trick.

Further to the north of Langliers numerous fish were caught once again pulling crank baits.  Only this time it seemed fish were holding in shallow water right along sunken tree lines.  Again, white baits were catching numerous fish, but a variety of others were also producing like the #5 jointed as it lured in this 25 ½ inch tank.

Had boats out walleye fishing the Missouri River Friday and Saturday.  Friday we were targeting mainly the rifle range and south. We figured with rising water levels fish would start going on the lower ends of the river.  For the most part fishing was really good catching limits on both minnows and jigs along with pulling crank baits.  Saturday we had another boat targeting fish north of Bismarck.  They reported easy limits of 17 – 21 inch walleyes pitching jigs with plastics in shallow water.  Still seems to be a lot of fish hanging around the river.
Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Sunday, May 9, 2010
Had Missouri River walleye fishing guides out both Saturday and today. One , Mike Peluso, fished the North Dakota Teen Challenge tourney that was held out of the Hazleton boat landing on Saturday. Mike and his team ended up in second place with five fish that weighed 18 pounds. His tactics included both jigging and pulling crank baits north and south of the “Desert” area. Way to go Mike!

Today, another guide was fishing poor conditions north of the dessert and boated numerous walleyes pitching jigs tipped with minnows in 2 – 7 foot of water. Considering poor conditions, the bite was fast and furious. Most walleyes were aggressive males that ranged from 16 – 19 inches.

Another great weekend of fishing.
Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Thursday, May 6, 2010
Had one boat out this morning walleye fishing the Missouri River about five miles north of Bismarck and had their 10 before noon.  All fish were 18 - 21 inches caught in five foot of water or less pitching jigs with plastics.  Yes, all were caught on plastics this time.  Jeff said the conditions were cold and wet, so it's always interesting how river walleyes are less affected by cold fronts than the lake fish.
Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Tuesday, May 4, 2010
Had two boats out walleye fishing the Missouri River the yesterday south of Bismarck and north of the Desert landing.  Both boats did very well catching numerous fish vertical and pitching jigs tipped with minnows and plastics.  Minnows out did plastics and most fish were caught in 8 foot of water or less.  What a beautiful afternoon and evening it was.

Watch video of some of yesterday’s action, cool footage.

Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Monday, May 3, 2010
Had one of the guides out yesterday fishing for walleye on the Missouri River south of Bismarck.  Considering the horrible weather conditions the fishing was quite good.  Two guys fished from about 9:30 till 4pm boating around 18 walleyes and releasing two that were just over 22 inches.  Once again, the fishing was best with jigs tipped with either plastics or minnows in around 10 foot of water.
Lake Oahe (North Dakota) - Friday, April 30, 2010
Had a guide out this morning walleye fishing the Missouri River and fishing wasn't hot once again.  LakeOaheGuide.COM, Jeff and another caught and released around 25 walleye with the the biggest being this 30+ inch 10lb walleye.  Another 25 and a couple 23's were also put back.  All fish were caught shallow with jigs and a minnow or jigs and plastics.  Pretty neat to see all these big fish around again.
Missouri River (ND Lower Portion) - Thursday, April 29, 2010
Three of us were out for a few hours last night walleye fishing the Missouri River south of the "Desert" landing.  It was beautiful night on the water and the fishing was pretty good.  We managed to boat 20 or so walleye with 10 being keepers ranging in the 16 to 25 inch mark.  Doug caught the big one that was released and measured 25 inches.  All walleye were caught jigging with minnows.

Just had a boat get off the water and walleye fishing on the Missouri River was hot!  He boated 18 walleyes in four hours of fishing from the desert area and south jigging with minnows in 3 to 8 feet of water.  The size of the walleyes ranged from 19 to 25 inches in length.  Very nice fish.

Fishing was fair to good this past weekend on the Missouri River out of Bismarck. Yesterday we had a boat out that netted 13 walleyes and 2 catfish from 7:30am till 1pm. Walleye size ranged from 16-24 inches and were caught vertical jigging with minnows and pulling cranks in 8 to 30 foot of water. Most were caught jigging.

Saturday, two LakeOahe.COM guides fished the 2010 Big Muddy Walleye Tournament. Guide Jeff Enzminger and his team took home 1st place honors and guide Mike Peluso came in sixth. Hats off to another well run tournament which is one of the top tourneys in North Dakota with a $12,000 first place prize with a competitive field chasing it. Congrats and good job to everyone who fished and help put the tourney on.

Walleye fishing is really picking up on the Missouri River around Bismarck with water clarity improving each day.  Walleyes are being caught north and south of Bismarck as shallow as a foot and we’ve also been seeing numbers caught in deeper waters up to 30 foot.  Best methods have been either vertical jigging or pitching jigs tipped with minnows.  As long as the weather remains manageable, the Big Muddy Walleye Tourney should bring in some nice weights.

The Lake Oahe bite still remains a bit slow with dirty water conditions.  This should continue to improve over the next week or so.  Missouri river walleye fishing pictures from this week.

Had two different boats out this past weekend walleye fishing the Missouri River near Bismarck and both did good to excellent. One boat caught around 25 and another had their limit fairly easy as well. Jigs with minnows and plastics seemed to do the trick. There were some very nice fish caught and released by both boats. ...More information on North Dakota Walleye Fishing
Lake Oahe (North Dakota) - Monday, April 5, 2010
Went to open things up at the cabin this past weekend. Ice is off from just south of the Rivery and north. There was a boat that docked at Beaver Bay and was fishing just below the Rivery. The water looked to be really muddy so I would give a week or two. There was still ice from Langliers and south. Most bays were open or partially open so that might be good for northern pike fishing. A few were shore fishing the spillway inside Pollock Bay which looked to be mostly open. Also stopped at Hazelton and water clarity was pretty bad there as well. Water levels are up again and should be at full or near full capacity soon. Give it another week or two for the water to clear up and some activity should pick up nicely.
